Ashley Forrest
My work explores the emotional architecture of the human experience through bold color, fractured form, and symbolic figures. Drawing from cubism, mythology, and intuitive abstraction, I build layered compositions that hold tension between strength and vulnerability, chaos and control.
Faces, bodies, and animals appear as recurring motifs—distorted, multiplied, or reassembled—to reflect inner worlds rather than literal likeness. These figures act as vessels for memory, resilience, femininity, and transformation. I'm interested in how we carry our stories in fragments, and how beauty can exist inside complexity and contradiction.
Painting is both a physical and emotional process for me. I work instinctively, allowing gesture, color, and shape to guide the narrative as it unfolds. Each piece becomes a space for confrontation and release—inviting the viewer to slow down, feel, and find themselves somewhere within the composition.
